These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie. Originally taught in North America by Yves Moreau. Who learned it from Nasko Barmasev, from Lovec. The dance is from Severnjaško. This is the potter's dance, and the steps are meant to simulate the foot actions used to keep the potter's wheel spinning.

Music: XOPO LP4
Meter: 9/8: QSQQ
Formation: Short lines, hands down in V position.
Introduction: 8 bars no action

Part 1: Forward and Back

Facing center
Bar 1: Hop on L (Q), Step on R next to L (S), Hop on R pushing L foot forward (QQ)
Bar 2: repeat bar 1 with opposite footwork
Bars 3-4: repeat bars 1-2
Bar 5: Hop on L (Q) step froward on R in to the center (S), close L behind R (Q)  Step R forward (Q)
Bar 6: Close L next to R (Q), Step forward on R into the center (S) Hop on R pushing L foot forward and up (QQ)
Bar 7: repeat bar 2
Bar 8: repeat bar 1
Bars 9-12: repeat bars 5-8, with opposite footwork and direction (backing up)

On each bar throughout the whole dance the arms swing forward on the (QS) and then back on the (QQ).

Part 2: Slides to side

facing center, arms swing throughout as in part 1
Bars 1-4: repeat bars 1-4 of part 1
Bar 5: Hop on L (Q), Step on R to R (S), close R next to L (Q), Step on R to R (Q)
Bar 6: Close L next to R (Q), Step R to R (S) Hop on R pushing L foot forward and up (QQ)
Bars 7-8: repeat bars 7-8 of part 1
Bars 9-12: repeat bars 5-8, with opposite footwork and direction

Part 2

facing center, arms swing throughout as in part 1
Bars 1-4: repeat bars 1-4 of part 1
Bar 5: Hop on L (Q), step on R to R (S), cross L over R, on ball of foot (Q), Step R to R, L flicks up to L a bit (Q)
Bar 6: Cross L over R, stepping on ball of foot (Q), Step on R to R, L flicks up to L a bit  (S) Hop on R pushing L foot forward (QQ)
Bars 7-8: repeat bars 7-8 of part 1
Bars 9-12: repeat bars 5-8, with opposite footwork and direction
