To Ting (Denmark)

To Ting
Denmark


These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie. The title translates as "two things". This dance has been in International Folk Dance circles since the early 1900s.

Music: Folkdancer 1018; Sonart 303
Meter: 3/4 and 2/4
Formation: Couples, holding inside hands
Introduction: There's a brief chord then start right away.

O = outside foot = M's L , W's R
I = Inside foot = M's R, W's L

Part 1:

Bar 1: Using a waltz step dance  forward in LOD and slightly away from partner. Start with outside foot.
Bar 2: Repeat bar 1, except with inside foot and turning to slightly face partner.
Bars 3-4: Repeat bars 1-2
Bars 5-8: Using 4 waltz steps do a turning waltz in ballroom position, moving forward in LOD
Bars 9-16: Repeat bars 1-8.

Part 2:

Bars 1-2: Take 4 walking steps forward in LOD, starting with outside foot.
Bars 3-4: M steps in front of partner, and gets into shoulder-waist position. Do 4 pivot steps (O, I, O, I), progressing forward in LOD
Bars 5-8: Open up and repeat bars 1-4
