Pravo Rodopsko Horo (Jaap's) - Kitko Zelena
Право Родопско Хоро - Китко Зелена
Bulgaria

These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie. This is one of two dances we do by this name. This is the version taught by Jaap Leegwater and Bianca De Jong to the music Kitko Zelena Kravena. This dance was also taught by Lee Otterholt. The other version was taught by Yves Moreau and is done to the song Puštono Ludo i Mlado.

Music:Kitko Zelena Kravena  Balkanton BHA 10441
Meter: 6/8, but counted as two beats (123)(456), so notated here as 2/4
Formation: Open circle with hands in W position.
Introduction: Start with singing

Part 1: Singing

Bar 1: Moving towards diagonal R, step on R (1), L (2)
Bar 2: Turning to face diagonal L, but backing up to diagonal R step R (1,2)
Bar 3: Step L backwards to diagonal R (1,2)
Bars 4-6: repeat bars 1-3
Bars 7-9: repeat bars 1-3
Bars 10-12: repeat bars 1-3,
note that this step bleeds into the instrumental music, so part two starts midway through the instrumental

Bar 2: Repeat bar 1
Bar 3: Step on R into the center with a little bounce (1,2)

Lyrics

From http://www.paulboizot.co.uk/lyrics/kitko_zelena.htm

Kitko zelena kravena
kaži mi, kitko, kaži mi.

Koi ta e sadil i prasil
i večerom ta i polival

Polival, kitko, podvival
sas koprine na korpitsa

Da ta ne pari slano da
da ta ne peče, sontseno
