Corlu AromânAromanian (Vlach)
These notes ©2017, Andrew Carnie. Originally taught by Sonia Dion and Christian Florescu. The Aromanians are a traditionally nomadic people who speak a language related to Romanian. They live throughout the Balkans but are mostly found in Northern Greece, South Serbia and Macedonia. Their music and dances often have the feel of the dances from the southern Balkans. This dance is actually from Dobrogea in Romania however.

Formation: Open circle, hands in W position, leads to the R
Introduction: 8 bars (32) beats, bounce down up in place, start with instrumental
Part 1; Grapevine (instrumental)
This part is very similar to the dance Gori More
Bar 1: Step R to R (1), Cross l in front of R (2), Step R to R (3) lift L up and starting to swing it back (4)Bar 2, Sstep L behind R (1), Step R to R (2), Step L in front of R (3) Čukče on L, lifting R next to L ankle (4)
Bar 3, Step on R in place (1) Cross L over R (2),Step back in place on R (3) čukče on R (4)
Bar 4, Step L to L (1), Cross R in front of L (2), Step L back in place (3) Čukče on L (4)
Bars 5-8: repeat bars 1-4
Part 2: Tsamiko (Singing)
Bar 1: Facing center, but moving in LOD, step R (1,2). Cross L over R (3,4)Bar 2: Step on R to R (1.2). Lift L in front of L (3,4)
Bar 3: Step on L to L (1,2). Touch R toe across in front of L (3,4)
Bar 4: Touch R toe to diagonal R (1,2). With a small čukče on L, brush R across floor to in front of R shin (3) extend R forward in LOD (4)

Bars 9-12: repeat bars 1-4
Bars 13-14: repeat bars 1-2
Bar 15: Step on L to L (1,2). With a small čukče on L, brush R across floor to in front of R shin (3) extend R forward in LOD (4)
