Ritka Legényes (Hungary)

These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie. Originally taught by Agostin Lanyi and Andor Czompo.  Ritka means "slow" in the context of dancing. Legenyes means "Lad's dance".  The dance is from the the Mezőseg region.

Music:
  • Qualiton LPX 18007, Lad’s Dance (Ritka Magyar)
Meter: 2/4
Formation: Line of Men, standing solo.
Introduction: 8 bars no action

Part 1

Bar 1: Hop on L, hooking R in front (1). Step on R to R (2).
Bar 2: Step on L behind R (1). Rock forward on R (2)
Bar 3: Hop on R, touching L heel forward (1),  Jump on both feet apart at shoulder width (2)
Bar 4: Jump on balls of both feet together (1), fall on flat of both feet (2)
Bar 5: Leap off of R, turning to face L, clap hands (1), land on L, hitting R heel with R hand out to the side (&) Cross R over L (2), step L to L (&)
Bar 6: Touch R heel forward  (1), jump onto both feet at shoulder width (2)
Bar 7: Jump onto balls of both feet, together (1), Jump onto both feet at shoulder width (2)
Bar 8: repeat bar 4
Bars 9-12: repeat bars 5-8 with opposite footwork and direction
Bar 13: Leap off of R, turning to face L, clap hands (1), land on L, hitting R heel with R hand out to the side (&), Step on R, with feet a shoulder's width, bend over (2), hit L shin with L hand (&)
Bar 14: Hit R shin with R hand (1), Hit L shin with L hand (&). Straighten up with R foot out to side (2)
Bar 15: Click R closed against left (1), pause (2)
Bar 16: Pause (1), fall on both feet forward (2)

Part 2

Bar 1: Hop on L, tapping R toe diagonally back, crossed behind L (1), Hop on L again this time tap R  straight back (2)
Bar 2: Hop on L, kicking L forward low (1), Leap on R crossing it in front of L (2)
Bar 3: Hop on R, kicking L out to side, hit L foot with L hand (1). Hop on R, touch L next to R on ground (2)
Bar 4: Hop on R, Lifting L in front and hit L shin with L hand (1), Jump on both feet together (2)
Bars 5-8: repeat bars 1-4
Bar 9: Leap on L in place, lifting R in front, hit R shin with R hand (1), Leap on R in place lifting L in front, hit L shin with L hand (2)
Bar 10: Step on L in place (1), Hit L thigh with L hand, lifting R up (&), Hit R shit with R hand (2)
Bar 11-12: repeat bars 9-10, except hop on L on count 1 of bar 11.
Bars 13-16: Turning to face L, clap hands (1), fall on L, hitting R heel with R hand out to the side (&), Step on R, with feet a shoulder's width, bend over (2), hit L shin with L hand (&)
Bar 14: Hit R shin with R hand (1), Hit L shin with L hand (&). Straighten up with R foot out to side (2)
Bar 15: Click R closed against left (1), pause (2)
Bar 16: Pause (1), fall on both feet forward (2)
Bars 17-32: repeat bars 1-16
