Ženska Šiptarska IgraKosovar Albanian
These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie: Originally taught by Ciga and Ivon Despotovic. More recently taught by Lee Otterholt. The title translates as "Shiptar (Albanian) Women's Dance.) The dance title is Serbian but the song is sung in Albanian. I'm told that the word "Shiptar" can be viewed as offensive by some Albanians. However I didn't name this dance and this is the name it is known by in the IFD community. Apologies if you are offended.

Vet'lla t'bukura t'holla, marshalla te thashë//
//Bukuria jote, më bon që të du
Po t'tham mori vashe, ti do t'jesh për mu.//
//Nji letër ta shkrova, moj e buk'ra ime
Dashnin ta kërkova, jet' për zemrën time//
//Ah kjo zemëra ime, veç për ty mendon
Ke lon shumë kujtime, me atë t'bukrën goj'//
//Letrën kur e mora, filloi m'nxu dashnija
Ah sa fort u gëzova, filloi lumturija//
//Ah kjo dashnija, shpejt do t'na bashkoje
M'erdhi dhe rinia, qe ne do t'kalojme.//
When I fell for you, [it was] the first time I saw you.
Beautiful, fine eyebrows; I said “Marshallah!”
Your beauty makes me love you.
I am telling you, young lady, you will be mine.
I wrote you a letter, you, my beauty,
I asked for your love, life for my heart.
Ah, this heart of mine, it thinks only of you;
You’ve left many memories, with that beautiful mouth.
When I received the letter, I started to fall in love,
Ah, I became happy; happiness has started.
Ah, this love very soon will unite us;
The youth also came, that we will enjoy (pass together.)
