These notes ©2016, Andrew Carnie. originally taught by Ercüment Kiliç in 1985. The dance name refers to a Turkish folk hero, who was the "Son of a Blind Man". The hero's father was blinded by an evil provincial governor and Köroğlu sought to seek revenge on him. Bora Özkök taught a different dance by this name, which is structurally similar to Güzelleme.
